Repent

Book of Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

1 Timothy 4:16

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Revelation 1:3

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand

The Lord did not create man without will but gave him commandments. And the first commandment:

Genesis 2:17

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

And God asks man a question: "Where are you?" And Adam did not kneel, did not ask for forgiveness. Instead, Adam blamed everything on his wife, saying, "the woman whom You gave to be with me." In other words, he reproached God. And what is the result? After the knowledge of good and evil, evil prevailed in people.

The Lord gives people the Book so that they read and study His will. Previously, we might have liked receiving letters from loved ones. But now the Lord wants us to study His Scripture. If a nation is with God, then God blesses it in everything. And when people abandon God, disasters befall the nation.

The first word Christ the Lord speaks in His preaching is "Repent!" But do people repent? Often, people, like Adam, blame God instead. There is no God in their hearts, only a desire to live according to their own will, their own thoughts.

And the Lord gave His Son so that no one would perish but have eternal life. And today, the preaching continues. But what do people do?

Luke 17:27

They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Jesus said: "Remember Lot's wife." She had already been saved. But she received a command not to look back. Yet something drew her back. Let's remember how Jesus was told about people who suffered at the hands of Pilate during their sacrifice. Perhaps people expected Jesus to condemn Pilate. But Christ said, "unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." People now think more about the flesh than the soul. If people turned to God, there would be no wars. But evil has overcome love in man, overcoming kindness, and it rejoices in this world. Satan wants people to follow him into hell.

When Jesus goes to the crucifixion, women follow and weep. But Christ tells them, "weep for yourselves and for your children." And these words resonate for us today and for our loved ones. Christ died for everyone and wants people to turn to Him. Christ loves us. Christ wants us to align our lives with the Scriptures. And those among people who turn to the Word of God, who come to Christ, receive salvation, and they are truly happy people.
